CSR – Pouliquen obtains the SME+ Label

After obtaining the IFS in 2018, Pouliquen obtained the PME+ label a few weeks ago. This label, recognized throughout France, is for independent French companies on a human scale, with ethical and responsible practices. For us, it is a recognition of our very strong desire to improve quality and procedures and of the actions carried out in this respect. Pouliquen is the 192nd French company to obtain this label.
Today, the company’s PME+ label recognizes its actions carried out as part of its CSR policy: responsible procurement from local producers, development of an organic range, food donations to associations, waste recycling, development of a new compostable packaging, etc.

Promoting responsible purchasing

Our purchasing policy with Prince de Bretagne producers allows us to work with independent and family-run farms and to favor fresh, seasonal vegetables grown by eco-responsible market gardeners, both organic and conventional.
All our producers and suppliers are located within a 100 km radius. We work with historical producers, members of Prince de Bretagne for all shallots and onions. For primary packaging, labels and packaging cartons, we also use local companies, some of which are located less than a kilometer from our company headquarters.

Pouliquen is committed to sustainable agriculture

For several years we have been offering a range of organic vegetables, in partnership with Prince de Bretagne producers, certified by Ecocert. A specific production line for this organic range has been created to meet the regulations in force. A 500 m2 extension, dedicated to the packaging of organic alliums, was built in 2020 and inaugurated on 2 July, to mark the company’s centenary. The activity will start there in the 2nd half of 2022.

Social involvement and solidarity

For over a year and a half, Pouliquen has been making regular food donations to the Restos du Cœur (the restaurants of the heart). A dozen tons of shallots and pink onions from Brittany are delivered to the donation warehouse in Vannes (56) each month. This represents approximately 24,000 units for the beneficiaries.

Limiting our CO2 emissions

Almost all our organic waste is recycled through methanisation with a local producer. We are also developing teleworking and carpooling. We also limit our road travel because the vegetable trading activity is centralized on a single site.
Pouliquen’s CSR approach is now linked to its capacity for innovation. For example, for several months now, our “Côté Marché” (market side) range (distributed at LIDL) has been using packaging made from compostable netting.

“Our desire is to promote Brittany in France, Europe and even beyond. Our CSR approach allows us and will allow us even more in the future to promote our region, its actors and their know-how. Obtaining the PME+ label is a great mark of recognition for us. »
